  • The Truth about Binderless Briquetting

    July 31, 2007

K.R. Komarek Inc. (Komarek) has an exclusive arrangement to supply binderless briquetting machines to White Energy Company Limited (White Energy) for use in White Energy's binderless coal briquetting (BCB) process. White Energy is the exclusive licensee of the world patented BCB coal upgrading technology.

Komarek has become aware that some companies in the market (particularly in Indonesia) are falsely claiming to have an arrangement with Komarek for the supply of binderless coal briquetting machines using the BCB or similar technology. This is untrue. Komarek has an exclusive arrangement to develop this technology with White Energy for the patented BCB technology.

In the event that companies wish to discuss the use of White Energy's binderless coal briquetting technology, White Energy should be contacted directly on the contact details below.

    The Technology

White Energy is a public company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and is the exclusive worldwide license holder of the binderless coal briquetting technology that was developed by Komarek in conjunction with Tra-Det Inc, the Commonwealth Scientific Research Organization (CSIRO) and the Griffin Coal Mining Company Pty Ltd. Komarek is a world leader in the design and manufacturing of roll type briquetting and compacting machines and with its partners has spent many years developing the binderless briquetting technology being commercialized by White Energy.

The process enhances relatively poor quality coal and significantly increases the coal's energy efficiency. The patented process involves the crushing and drying of high moisture coals, resulting in the reduction of the moisture content of the coal and converting the product into a higher energy content, stable product. Independent tests, by both expert engineers and coal producers, have shown the process to be more cost and operationally efficient than competing technologies. Advantages of the White Energy process involve creating a higher energy value coal; creating a physically and chemically stable product; significantly reducing transportation costs; and creating a higher value energy release with lower carbon emissions.

  • Model B050

The B050 roller press--the smallest yet on the market--has been designed specifically for research and small laboratory projects. It is an inexpensive, versatile and useful tool to provide data for improving the performance of existing compacting or briquetting operations or implementing new ones.

    Features:

    • Separation of the process zone from the mechanical area of the equipment.
    • Product contact assemblies are all stainless steel, easily removable for quick setup changes, cleaning and sterilization.
    • Integrated mixing system allows small batch preparation followed by direct loading into the screw feeder.
    • Continuous display of all important process parameters with output to data acquisition system.
    • Multiple roll configurations available for briquetting or compacting applications.
